I want to upgrade my PC soon, especially my processor. I do a lot of games and video editing, and I had been waiting for a while for the announcement of the new AMD 5000 series processors. What they showed today was pretty good, but I was a little discouraged by the price, specifically $ 450 for the 5800x. As such, I was thinking of one of two options:
Get a Ryzen 7 3700x now and upgrade to a 5000 series processor later, or
Get a Core i7 10700k now, which will likely have benchmarks similar to the 5800x, and cost around $ 100 less.
I leaned towards 10700k, but my only issue with this is that motherboards in this processor currently don't support PCIe 4.0, unlike AMD cards. I should also note that my current processor is the i7 4790k. Let me know what you think.
